| Fall 2007 As everyone can see, there have been many changes around the community. The dam project is just about completed and I think the Ciccone Construction Company has done a terrific job. I, for one, thought that the end product would look a lot worse than it does. The board is thinking about planting some nice trees along the road at the base of the dam. This will be a spring project. New signs have been purchased and will be installed soon. The boat stanchion located next to the fire hydrant has been removed at the request of the fire department. Regarding the area around the boat launch, people were allowed to park there because of the construction equipment in the parking area. Now that the construction is completed, there is NO PARKING on the lake side of the dam. That area is to remain clear for boat launching and fire access. Please remember to inform any guest of this. The parking area has a new addition. The new structure will be the mail building and storage shed. As soon as the pad for it is completed, the new mail boxes will be installed and everyone will be instructed as how to switch. This new building will have enough room for all the boxes required in the community. It will have lighting and a Community bulletin board. The parking lot will receive a coating of stone to finish it off. The remainder of the roads will be resurfaced in a couple of weeks. The guard rail across from the dam has been repaired and the area around the boat launch and fire hydrant will receive a top layer of stone. This board has been very busy looking out for the interests of the members and upgrading the community with these projects. If every member would take a little pride in this community and their own property all of these improvements will be worth it. The annual meeting was an example of democracy in action! Issues were discussed (not fought over), changes were voted on, and the majority of those attending left the meeting in a positive mode. I think everyone who attended the meeting left with a positive attitude towards the future of this community. We, like every other group of people, have our differences and thoughts on how things should be done; but, after discussing our ideas and allowing the members to vote we resolve our problems and agree to accept the community’s decision. I feel if we place the importance and needs of the community first our decisions will benefit all. The annual “open board” meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 6th, 10:00 am at Greshams Chop House. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your neighbors. Brian J. McCarthy NOTES FROM THE BOARD The annual meeting was held on Saturday June 30th at the Lakeville fire house. The following is a break down of issues discussed: A committee presented a proposal to change the fencing regulations. This was discussed and voted on. The proposal was defeated and the present regulations will be enforced. A request to allow golf carts in the community was proposed and defeated. The issue of the increased dues to cover the cost of the dam project was presented to the membership. After much discussion it was agreed that the boards proposed plan was in the best interest of the community. Elections for two board members were held and since there was no opposition, the secretary, cast one vote for each and they were re-elected. Congratulations to Jim Martin and Bob Fredericks. The board is spending a lot of time and community money enforcing the rules and regulations. There are several cases still not decided on and new ones are being presented. The meeting was very productive and the board wants to thank all who attended. You elected each member to represent you in matters concerning the community and we are doing our best to look out for the interests of ALL. In other matters please remember: All boats must be removed from the common area by November 1st. There is NO PARKING on the lake side of the dam. ALL changes to the outside of your property must be approved by the A.C.C. BEFORE they are started. (If in doubt give a call to the board). Please drive SLOW in the community. The annual open board meeting is Oct. 6th. We have a new web site for the community. It can be found at www.HLEPOA.com This site is under construction, but we hope to have it running smoothly very shortly, than we will have even better communications within the community.
