Ripples on the Lake
Fall 2008

Another summer is coming to an end. The mornings are sweatshirt
temperature and the school buses are back on the road.
Soon the lake will be surrounded with brilliant colored trees.
The annual meeting was attended by members of 50 lots
and there were 39 proxy votes.
The meeting went along without a hitch. There were no major
controversial subjects on the agenda and those attending
seemed satisfied with the performance of the board. It’s nice to see so
many happy faces. I realize it’s impossible to make everyone happy,
however, I will testify that this present board is doing its best
to represent the community.
The lake water testing program is running smoothly.
Testing is done monthly and will continue until November.
It will restart in March 2009. The results are forwarded to Wilkes
University and to date the water condition is good.
The fishing program started this summer will be evaluated,
but I was informed by several experts that results
may take several years. What I need is input from the people
who fish the lake. How many fish did they catch?
What was their size? How many did you keep?
All this information will help us decide what our next action should be.
Several people have kept me informed, but we need information from
everyone fishing the lake in order to get the correct data.
So, if you fish the lake please give me a call @ 226-9474.
Anyone with a boat tag question please call Bob Essex @
226-6240. Please remember “If it floats – It needs a tag!”
All members with boats at the common area are reminded
that they must be removed by November 1st.
I hope you make an effort to attend the annual open board meeting
at Greshams Chop House on Saturday October 4th, at 10am.
The Chop House is on Rt.6 across from the lake.
This meeting is to keep an open dialog between the board and the
community. If you don’t express your thoughts and ideas,
don’t expect anything, and you shouldn’t be disappointed.
                                 See you at the meeting

NOTES FROM THE BOARD

Members attending the annual meeting were informed that the board
passed a regulation banning the feeding of deer in the community.
This ban will go in effect September 1st. 2008.
Fines will imposed on anyone not abiding by this ban.

All property owners are reminded that they are responsible
for the condition of their property including the cleaning of the water
drainage ditches in the front of their lots. With the approach of fall,
all leaves must be removed from driveway culverts and drainage
ditches. This includes part time members and property owners with
vacant land.
If these ditches and culverts are not cleaned a heavy rain will erode the
roads and the property owner will be responsible for the repair. The
removal of leaves DOES NOT mean dumping them on another lot.

The board is in the process of replacing the weathered STOP signs.

The board voted to ban the use of outdoor wood furnaces because
of the fire hazard and pollution problem they present.

The Community Bulletin Board in the mail shed is for community
information only. All outside soliciting will be removed.

The common area is for the use of all members.
We just ask that if you plan to have a large gathering,
you inform Bob Fredericks in order to avoid any conflicts.
We also ask everyone using the common area to clean up
after themselves.  Come on people-this is common courtesy.

As of 9/5/2008 the following lots have not paid their 2008-2009 dues:
20, 22, 28, 42, 45, 52, 55, 56, 64, 80,
81, 93, 95, 102, 104, 105, 117, 118 and 139.
Dues were due 7/1/2008. Please make an effort to get paid up.

REMEMBER           Open Board Meeting October 4th.
Make an effort to get involved with YOUR COMMUNITY!!
